Google is going to rethink the lack of an approval process. Apple didn’t do that to try and screw over consumers or developers. They did it for protection for both consumers and themselves.
What happens if someone creates an application that looks absolutely amazing but throws some sort of virus in there? Yeah, T-mobile and google will get to it and take it down. But the only way they’re going to find out about it is from consumers who already got screwed.
Not to mention there are going to be things (like netshare for the iPhone) that will be in the contract that won’t be allowed. There’s no way google or htc would be able to prevent that stuff from getting to the market.
