This is a very good unbiased review of the new iPhone 3G, and some comparison to the old iPhone. You should note that the iPhone 3G DOES NOT have the turn by turn navigation as most people are confused about. Also, it does not let the users replace their own battery, like all other phones in the world. (The Lithium Ion batteries on cellphones are not meant to last forever. They typically lose their capacity after 1 or 2 years depending on your usage) Apple does let people mail the phone in for battery replacement when needed, but you’ll be without a phone for a while and you’ll have to pay a hefty sum. The call quality on the iPhone isn’t also quite as good as CDMA phones. You have 2 things going against the iPhone. 1. The antenna is enclosed in the metal case, which means the sensitivity (RF measurement for how low of the signal you can receive and still function) is low. 2. It’s GSM. You’ll hear the reviewer mention the “GSM buzz” in the background.
Again, this is not a bash on iPhone. It’s a great phone and it will sell millions of them around the world this year. I’m only pointing out the facts so people who’s blinded by the hype can see.
