We have known for a while that Dell was going to enter the smartphone market. Here is the first spy photos of Android based iPhone Killer from Dell named Streak. It has by far the largest screen size of 5 inch WVGA, and other features such as 3G support, 5Mpixel Camera with LED Flash, WiFi, and Bluetooth.

This is the first known snapshot of a phone featuring Dell logo. The rumor is that Dell was planning to release the Android powered phone by the end of the year. The screen clearly suggests the this phone is a Chinese version.

Dell Reported to Be in Talks for Chinese Smartphones

Dell Computers, which has been rumoured to be entering the smartphone market for several years, is now hotly rumoured to be in talks with China Mobile to launch its first range of handsets in the country. The company has been apparently rebuffed by several operators who considered prototype handsets as bland an uninspiring. However China Mobile is thought to be keen on the models presented to it.

Dell Inc is plotting a foray into the cell phone arena as early as next month, making and selling smartphones to revitalize a business walloped by crumbling PC sales and pitting the firm against Apple, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The world’s No. 2 maker of PCs, which has been designing prototypes for over a year, is focusing on smartphones — the class of high-end devices that encompasses Apple’s iPhone and Research in Motion‘s Blackberry, the newspaper cited people familiar with the matter as saying.

If launched, the phones will be based on Google‘s Android operating system and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software, it said. One model will even feature a touchscreen, not unlike the iPhone‘s, the Journal reported.

A Dell Smartphone?

There is a report that Dell has been working with a Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn to develop their own Windows Mobile-Based Smartphone. Neither companies will confirm or deny the news.

This will not be easy task for Dell to enter already highly competitive smartphone market unless they have an iPhone Killer type of phone that everybody will want to own.
