Are they already planning for Nuvifone failure? If they were confident that this will be the true iPhone Killer, why would they need to move to Android based phone? Or, is it possible that they’ve finalized realized how complicated the phone software can be?

We almost forgot about this iPhone Killer from Garmin but apparently they have been making progress. It has finally passed through the FCC for US lanuch. However, no word on whether they were able to secure any carrier deals and how much it will sell for. With the carrier deal, like BB Storm, Apple iPhone, etc. the carriers subsidize the phone to be more affordable like $199 range. However, without the carrier deal the customer has to pay full price for the phone making the cost quite high, e.g. Sony Ericsson Experia for over $500.

Now, the earlier anyone can own one of these is “First Half of 2009″. It just goes to show you that when you have not been in the cellular phone business, there will be stuff that comes up that you don’t know how to anticipate for. In that sense, Apple did meet their original schedule as announced.
