According to The Register, Apple has sent working prototypes of iPhones with hardware keyboards to senior executives at some wireless carriers to get their feedback.
iPhone with keyboards? Wasn’t the whole appeal of the iPhone the fact that it was all touchscreen without any hardware buttons? Now, it seems they want to go after the business type. Can Apple satisfy both the cool and heap along with suit and executives-on-the-go?
The Swedish manufacturer of carrying cases for portable electronics, Krusell, has released their “Top 10″-list for June 2008. The list is based upon the number of pieces of model specific mobile and smart phone cases that have been ordered from Krusell during June 2008.
Krusell’s list is unique due to the fact that it reflects the sales of phones on six continents and in more than 50 countries around the globe.
According to the latest iPhone SDK, the developers have to agree not to develop real time route guidance or fleet management type of applications. Not sure exactly why Apple is doing this, but could it be that they already have a deal with large third party companies that already do this? (TomTom or Garmin?)
If you said Apple iPhone, you are wrong. According to IDC, RIM (Blackberry maker) had commanding 44% market share in Q1 2008 compared to iPhone’s 19.2%. Who’s number 3? Palm.
Based on the patent filing by Apple, speculation is high this week that Apple could be working to tap into solar power to charge its growing range of wildly successful gadgets, including the iPhone. No further details at this point.
After more than a year of waiting, Rogers Wireless is finally gearing up to rollout Apple’s iPhones. The carrier said it would offer the handset to its subscribers some time this year. Rogers is the only GSM provider in Canada, so the partnership was more or less a shoe-in and comes as little surprise. Rogers’ COO Nadir Mohamed hinted at the partnership in early 2007 shortly after Apple unveiled the handset: “I’m not saying whether we have agreements or anything [with Apple], but given the iPhone was launched on GSM, we’re in good position to reinforce that we’re the first and have the best-feature devices.”
