Not that it was ever a big secret no one saw coming but it is finally official. Apple’s iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon after AT&T had the US exclusivity for the past 3 years. It’s also no secret that the worst thing about the iPhone in the US was the AT&T’s horrible network. At the same time Verizon enjoyed having #1 customer satisfaction for the customer service and network. So what would happen if you combine the most popular smartphone in the world with the best network? Will all the iPhone users from AT&T defect to Verizon? Probably not a big chunk and probably not any time real soon. Many of the existing iPhone users are locked into 2 year contract and many are on family plan so it’s not easy to just breakaway. Also, Verizon just received iPhone 4, same phone that AT&T customers have enjoyed since middle of last year and is expected to receive even newer and upgraded phone in few months. Still, it will be interesting to see what people do. Before they didn’t have the choice between the phone and the network but now they do.
