Since Apple treats their vendor lists like the national secret, people always want to know what components are in Apples products. The iPhone 3G was certainly no exception and as soon as the unit was for sale last Friday, the teardown reports became available on the same day. For those of you who actually care whose components are in the iPhone 3G, here is a picture with all the important part. The big mystery was whose GPS will iPhone 3G have and the rumor has been correct. It’s the Infineon Hammerhead II GPS. This is based on Global Locate’s GPS, partnered with Infineon before Global Locate was acquired by Broadcom last year. So, technically it’s not a Broadcom chip, although the original technology now belongs to them.
